Travel Itinerary

DAY 1

Arrival, hotel check-in, Zagreb Food Tour (Lunch)

Get to know some of the most representative Croatian dishes from various regions, their tradition and preparation. It is so much more than a food tour and definitely not your usual city tour. You may not be so familiar with Croatian cuisine than with its story, but after this tour you will definitely want a recipe for each of the specialties served along the tour. Stop at Zagreb’s most interesting points and learn about the history while experiencing Croatian best flavors the country has to offer. Croatian cuisine is diverse – representing each region, its tradition and roots from the ancient times to modern days. The differences in the selection of foods and their preparation are most notable between the mainland and the coast. Meet your guide in front of the Ban Jelačić Statue at the main city square and make sure you start the tour with an empty stomach. By the end of the tour you’ll have sampled up to six traditional Croatian dishes and have drunk up to four glasses of wine. Get familiar with the distinctive tastes of each of the five regions, enjoy the most typical wine samples that pair best with traditional dishes and learn a considerable amount of local history and culture.
SCHEDULE: All year round (Mon-Sat) 16:00
MEETING POINT: Ban Josip Jelačič Square

DAY 2

Plitvice Lakes National Park & Rastoke (Breakfast)

Discover one of the oldest and largest national parks in Croatia. The unity and harmony of the 16 lakes here and their rare natural and cultural value is not only famous throughout Croatia but also worldwide; earning this remarkable national park a coveted place on UNESCO’s list of World Heritage sites. Arriving at Plitvice, you’ll walk through these ancient woodlands. The path takes us first across Gornja Jezera (Upper Lakes), a system of 12 lakes separated by travertine barriers. Wherever you are in Plitvice, it is easy to see why its travertine marble formations are such an extraordinary natural phenomenon. The barriers, sills, and other forms created in these lakes, the karst rivers and streams are still an ongoing process that shapes the wonderful landscapes. It is these same travertine formations that have and are still creating the numerous magnificent waterfalls here.

DAY 3

Ljubljana & Bled (Breakfast)

Discover two of Slovenia’s most spectacular sites – the famous Bled with its iconic lake and the one and only island in Slovenia together with Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. The tour is the perfect combination of untouched nature and the capital’s bustling vibe. Just a short drive from Zagreb, there lies Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. The guided tour includes a walk through the old town, pass numerous Baroque and Art Nouveau architectural masterpieces of the 20th century including the rich legacy of Jože Plečnik, the famous architect that shaped this city into a unique tourist attraction. You will get to know the locals’ daily life: why Triple Bridge is actually triple, where locals buy food, how Napoleon was one of the most popular politicians, why Slovenia really lives with LOVE in its name, and more. After the tour, you will most likely feel like one of the locals rather than just on a friendly visit. Free time for your own explorations afterwards. After Ljubljana, it is time to head north, towards the magical Alpine resort. For centuries Bled has been the symbol of natural beauty and home to fairy tales. Ascend the old 12th-century castle, perched on top of a steep cliff with spectacular views of the lake, the famous Bled island, and the surrounding peaks. The castle often houses weddings, cultural events, and important protocol meetings, but also a museum of manual printing and a wine cellar. A boat ride with ‘Pletna’ – a traditional boat made by locals, is among the must-do things when visiting Bled. Not only because of the authentic experience but a true journey back in time. Standing paddlers will take you to the island with 99 stone steps on the way to the Assumption of Mary church and the fortune bell. Make sure not to miss the Bled cream cake, the notorious local dessert, famous all around Slovenia, before leaving town and ending the day back in Ljubljana.

What a great way to explore Ljubljana – on wheels! Hop on a comfortable fat-tire stylish beach cruiser bicycle and enjoy Ljubljana from a different perspective. Meet your guide in front of Hotel Cubo Ljubljana where bikes will be provided. The main advantage of exploring the lively capital on two wheels is the ability to see interesting places outside of the pedestrian city center, such as the beautiful Ljubljanica River embankments, abandoned military objects, and beautifully arranged lush green park areas. Cycling is easy and smooth on Ljubljana flat terrains. Cruise through the city’s hidden narrow streets, stop to see the major attractions, explore the Roman remains and architectural wonders scattered all over the city. Visit some of the most interesting districts of Ljubljana and have fun discovering different vibes as you wander the paths that only locals know about. For the cherry on top? We take you for a drink in the center to soak up Ljubljana’s vibrant atmosphere!

The first stop are the UNESCO listed Skocjan Caves, one of the largest and most fascinating karstic sites in Europe with the Reka River running 200 m below the surface.
