Itinerary

Day 1: Colombo to Negombo

On arrival in Colombo be transferred to Negombo. Overnight at Goldi Sands.

Day 2: Negombo to Anuradhapura

Travel to Anuradhapura and take a tour of the city’s ancient ruins. See Sri Maha Bodhi, the oldest documented tree in the world. Stay the next two nights at Palm Garden Village. (B)

Day 3: Anuradhapura

Discover the city of Anuradhapura on a full day tour. Anuradhapura is the home of two World Heritage sites and is the most celebrated of Sri Lanka’s ancient ruined cities. (B)

Day 4: Anuradhapura to Trincomalee

Start your day with a drive to Trincomalee. Visited by many Hindu and Buddhist devotees. The famous hot springs, whale watching, clean and shallow beaches are encourage visitors to Trincomalee. Stay the next two nights at Trinco Blue By Cinnamon. (B)

Day 5: Trincomalee

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel, followed by a free day at leisure. (B)

Day 6: Trincomalee to Sigiriya

This morning, venture to Sigiriya, also known as the 8th wonder of the world. Later enjoy an excursion to the ancient city of Polonnaruwa – The Island’s medieval capital. Stay the next two nights at Hotel Sigiriya. (B)

Day 7: Sigiriya

Venture to Sigiriya Lion Rock and admire the most treasured historical monument in Sri Lanka. Later drive to Hiriwadunna where you will begin a trek through the archetypal Sri Lankan village. You can see the amazing birdlife, butterflies and possible sightings of crocodile only add to the charm of the trek. If you are lucky you can see the villagers as they go about their morning tasks of fishing or washing clothes at the periphery of the lake. Later, you can enjoy a catamaran ride, bullock cart ride and finally a tasty Sri Lankan meal made at home by the villagers. (B)

Day 8: Sigiriya to Kandy

Explore the rock cave temples of Dambulla before travelling to Kandy. Stay the next two nights at OZO Kandy. (B)

Day 9: Kandy

Discover Kandy on a full day city tour including the beautiful Peradeniya Botanical Garden before enjoying an evening cultural show. (B)

Day 10: Kandy to Nuwara Eliya

Travel from Kandy to Nuwara Eliya by road. Nuwara Eliya is a city in the hill country of the Central Province in Sri Lanka. The city is considered to be one of the most important locations for tea cultivation and well known for its cool climate being the coolest area in Sri Lanka. Stay the next two nights at Araliya Green Hills. (B)

Day 11: Nuwara Eliya

Visit a tea factory and take a tour of the hillside city. (B)

Day 12: Nuwara Eliya to Yala

This morning, drive to Nanu Oya railway station to board a train for Ella. This will be a journey that will rattle you straight into the heart of the tea country where pure Ceylon Tea is being processed. On arrival in Ella, continue the drive to Yala, Sri Lanka’s oldest national park. Stay the next two nights at Kithala Resort. (B)

Day 13: Yala

Rise early as you enjoy a Jeep safari in Yala National Park – The terrain is varied, flat plains alternating with rocky outcrops. The vegetation ranges from open parkland to dense jungle a must for any wildlife enthusiast with the specialty being the large number of Elephants, Deer, Wild Boar and Sāmbhar. (B)

Day 14: Yala to Sinharaja

This morning, travel to Sinharaja. Sinharaja is located in Southern provinces of Sri Lanka and is home to a variety of endangered mammal, birds, reptiles, butterflies including leopards. Stay the next two nights at The Rain Forest Eco Lodge. (B)

Day 15: Sinharaja

Start your day with a trek in Sinharaja Rainforest. Trek through the quaint paths of Sinharaja where placid undergrowth lies in wait for the appreciation of all who wish to indulge in an adventure to the tranquil wilderness. (B)

Day 16: Sinharaja to Bentota

Rise early as you continue on to Galle.The walled city has stood since the early sixteenth century through the colonial periods. Enjoy a visit to Galle Fort and its surrounding city. Later this afternoon, enjoy a high tea before continuing the journey onto Bentota. Stay the next two nights at Avani Bentota. (B)

Day 17: Bentota

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel, followed by a free day at leisure. (B)

Day 18: Bentota to Colombo

Venture from Bentota to Colombo, the country’s capital. In the afternoon, experience the hustle and bustle of the commercial area of Fort and drive past the noisy bazaar area of Pettah. Visit the Wolvendaal Dutch Church, built in 1749, and drive through the Cinnamon Gardens. Overnight at OZO Colombo. (B)

Day 19: Colombo

Enjoy breakfast before being Yala transferred to the airport for your onward journey. (B)
