DAY 1

Arrival in Tiblisi

Arrival in Tbilisi. Transfer to your hotel in walking distance from the Old town. Check-in after 15:00h. Time at leisure.

DAY 2

Tbilisi

Tbilisi Sightseeing Tour: The historical part of Tbilisi is located at the foot of Narikala Fortress (4th century). It charms visitors with its romantic narrow streets, beautiful facades and picturesque religious sites next to each other, including Metekhi Church, a Synagogue, Sioni Cathedral, Anchiskhati Church and the famous sulphur bathhouses. For lunch you will visit a local restaurant and taste famous Georgian Khatchapuri (cheese pie) and fresh home-made limonade. After lunch drive to visit Sarajishvili Brandy factory founded in 1884. After excursion enjoy a VSOP tasting. Back to the hotel. After some rest dinner in a traditional Georgian restaurant. You will learn about the basic ingredients and various spices used in Georgian traditional dishes and get familiar with the difference between regional cuisines.

DAY 3

Tbilisi - Mtskheta - Uplistsikhe - Kutaisi

Drive to visit the old capital and religious centre of Georgia – Mtskheta (UNESCO World Heritage). Christianity in Georgia started from this town in 4th century. Visit Jvari Monastery at the top of a high cliff and enjoy the view from the monastery overlooking the confluence of two rivers, Mtkvari and Aragvi. Later, visit Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (11th century), spiritual centre of the country. Then visit a local family in Mtskheta that produces own wine. You will get acquainted with Georgian method of wine-making and learn how to cook traditional dumplings Khinkali. Lunch with 1 glass of home-made wine. Continue to drive to the Cave Town Uplistsikhe from 1st millennium. Visit the Cave Town and drive to the second largest city Kutaisi, known as the Land of the Golden Fleece. Check-in hotel for 2 nights. Dinner in a restaurant at the river with some special dishes from the mountainous region Racha.

DAY 4

Imereti-Samegrelo Region

In the morning visit a local farmer’s market in Kutaisi with fresh vegetables, fruits and spices. Then drive to Samegrelo region, famous for its spicy cuisine. First of all you will visit a local tea plantation and learn about the history of tea in Georgia. Then visit local family in a Village and have a cooking class of Megrelian cuisine followed by tasting of Megrelian wine and lunch. Drive back and visit Prometheus Karst Cave in Tskaltubo with its stunning formations of stalactites and stalagmites. In the afternoon walk in Kutaisi city center, visit Bagrati Cathedral and enjoy free time.

DAY 5

TKutaisi - Gelati - Tbilisi

In the morning visit one of the most important sites of Imereti region, the Gelati Monastic Complex (UNESCO World heritage site). The complex was founded as a centre of enlightment by the greatest Georgian king, David the Builder, at the beginning of the 12th century. Then visit Motsameta Church and drive to a Village to get to know the secrets of the delicious Imeretian cuisine. Imeretian cuisine is a great mix of fresh vegetables, greens, nuts and spices, with or without meat. Enjoy the lunch at local family and drive to the capital city Tbilisi. On the way visit a local winery to taste typical wines from Kartli region. Check-in hotel in Tbilisi and free time.

DAY 6

Tbilisi - Gombori Pass - Alaverdi – Telavi

Drive to visit the main winemaking region of Georgia, Kakheti. Georgia boasts 8000 years old history of viniculture. The traditional so called “Kakhetian method” of winemaking involves wine being stored in clay jars which are buried underground. This method belongs to UNESCO World Heritage since 2013. On arrival in Kakheti visit a local family that produces since centuries huge clay jars for wine. Then visit Alaverdi Monastery nearby and continue to visit a local cheese dairy. Get acquainted with different types of Georgian cheese and have cheese-tasting. In the afternoon arrive at your hotel, check-in and free time. In the evening visit the winery Chateau Mosmieri, have an excursion, wine-tasting and dinner with traditional dishes from this region.

DAY 7

Telavi - Tsinandali - Tbilisi

Drive to visit Tsinandali Duke’s Estate with an old wine-cellar from 19th century. Then drive to Tbilisi. On arrival check-in your hotel and enjoy free time. In the evening walk along Orbeliani Street to Dry Bridge Flea Market and to the restaurant “Shavi Lomi”. Here you will get once again the full Georgian experience in the end of your journey.

DAY 8

Tbilisi Departure

Transfer to Tbilisi Airport.
