Spend a weekend in the Croatian Capital! Zagreb – town is particularly known for its unbeatable charm around Christmas time, but amazing in all periods of the year. Zagreb is a must-visit European capital with more museums per square foot than any other city in Europe. Join a small-group day tour to Plitvice Lakes National Park, the breathtaking scenery of 16 terraced lakes and spectacular waterfalls.

Travel Itinerary

DAY 1

Arrival, hotel check-in, Zagreb Food Tour (Lunch)

Get to know some of the most representative Croatian dishes from various regions, their tradition, and preparation. It is so much more than a food tour and definitely not your usual city tour. You may not be so familiar with Croatian cuisine than with its story, but after this tour, you will definitely want a recipe for each of the specialties served along the tour. Stop at Zagreb’s most interesting points and learn about the history while experiencing Croatian best flavors the country has to offer. Croatian cuisine is diverse – representing each region, its tradition, and roots from ancient times to modern days. The differences in the selection of foods and their preparation are most notable between the mainland and the coast. Meet your guide in front of the Ban Jelačić Statue at the main city square and make sure you start the tour with an empty stomach. By the end of the tour, you’ll have sampled up to six traditional Croatian dishes and have drunk up to four glasses of wine. Get familiar with the distinctive tastes of each of the five regions, enjoy the most typical wine samples that pair best with traditional dishes, and learn a considerable amount of local history and culture.
MEETING POINT: Ban Josip Jelačič Square
START: 16:00 Hrs
DURATION: 3,5h – 4h

DAY 2

Plitvice National Park & Rastoke (Breakfast)

Discover one of the oldest and largest national parks in Croatia. The unity and harmony of the 16 lakes here and their rare natural and cultural value is not only famous throughout Croatia but also worldwide; earning this remarkable national park a coveted place on UNESCO’s list of World Heritage sites. Arriving at Plitvice, you’ll walk through these ancient woodlands. The path takes us first across Gornja Jezera (Upper Lakes), a system of 12 lakes separated by travertine barriers. Wherever you are in Plitvice, it is easy to see why its travertine marble formations are such an extraordinary natural phenomenon. The barriers, sills, and other forms created in these lakes, the karst rivers, and streams are still an ongoing process that shapes the wonderful landscapes. It is these same travertine formations that have and are still creating the numerous magnificent waterfalls here.
